Remembering former CCRC Chair, Charles Mong

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Charles Mong and extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Charles served as Chairman of the Centre County Republican Committee in the 1990s, but his impact on our community reached far beyond politics. He was known and beloved by generations of children and families as Santa Claus—bringing joy, kindness, and generosity to so many. More than a political leader, Charles was a true servant of the community, embodying the values of service, unity, and goodwill. His legacy is a reminder that while political involvement is important, our highest calling is to support and strengthen our community. That is exactly what we strive to do as committee members—whether as educators, youth leaders, coaches, or volunteers. We honor Charles’s memory by continuing to build a community that prioritizes people over politics.
